Born in Kiev, Ukraine in 1988, Antonii Baryshevskyi started playing piano at the age of seven. His prodigious skills were honed at Lysenko Special Secondary Music School in Kiev under the tutelage of A. Sorkina and R. Donskaya. Baryshevskyi was then accepted into the National Music Academy of Ukraine, where he achieved his master’s degree and PhD under Professor Valerii Kozlov.
Baryshevskyi has graduated from Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, where he studied under Prof. Marian Rybicki and participated in master’s classes with Professors Daniel Pollack, Lily Dorfman, Alfred Brendel and Richard Goode, among others.
Baryshevskyi is a laureate of the Ukrainian program, A Man of the Year 2005, on which he appeared when only 16 years old. At 17 years, he participated in the 2006 Euro Radio Youth Concert in Munich, Germany.
Baryshevskyi is a soloist of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine. He is a prize-winner of numerous top international piano competitions, including:
- First prize at the 14th Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition (Tel Aviv, Israel, 2014);
- Second prize at the 58 F. Busoni International Piano Competition (Bolzano, Italy, 2011);
- First prize at the 51st International Piano Competition Premio Jaen (Jaen, Spain, 2009);
- First prize at the IV Isidor Bajic Piano Memorial Competition (Novi Sad, Serbia, 2008);
- First prize at the 2nd International Piano Competition ISAM (Ochsenhausen, Germany, 2006);
- Second prize at the VI International Piano Competition, In Memory of V. Horovitz (Kiev, Ukraine, 2005);
- First prize at the IV International Piano Competition, Performer-Composer (St. Petersburg, Russia, 2004).
Additionally, Baryshevskyi has participated in the 2015 Peace & Piano Festival (Seoul, South Korea), the 2015 Chautauqua Festival (USA), the 2015 Copenhagen Summer Festival (Denmark), the 2015 MDR Musicsommer Festival (Eisenach, Germany), the 2014 Progetto Martha Argerich (Lugano, Switzerland), the 2012 and 2014 Klavier Ruhr Festival (Essen, Germany) and the 2012 Busoni Festival (Bolzano, Italy), among others.
Baryshevskyi has performed worldwide in such highly acclaimed venues as Wigmore Hall in London, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Conertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg. He has performed concerts in almost all of the European countries, as well as Israel, Japan, S. Korea and the United States.
Baryshevskyi has played with some of the leading European orchestras, including the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine, the Gubernator’s Orchestra of St. Petersburg, the Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestra and the Ciudad de Granada Orchestra in Granada, Spain.
He has performed under the baton of maestros A. Fisch, F. Chaplin, V. Kahidze, D. Bostock, G. Albreht, G. Kostin and R. Kofman, among many others. Baryshevskyi has recorded tracks for numerous record labels, as well as for radio and TV programs in Italy, Spain, the Ukraine, the Netherlands and several Serbian agencies. He has released three albums, Antonii Baryshevskyi: Piano Recital, Moussorgskyi & Scriabin and, most recently, Galina Ustvolskaya, Piano Sonatas.
